St John's Parish weekend. May 4th - May 8th 2007. Leek Caravan and Camping Club site was our base this year. Gwen and Paul, had already struck camp, joined by Dave, Rachel and Morse, then Jo, Ann and Nigel and Janet. That night was spent drinking wine in Gwen and Paul’s awning! Early Saturday morning Jo and Ann set out to walk "the Roaches", a seven mile walk as part of their pilgrimage preparation. We decided to have a lazy morning, but met up At Tittesworth Reservoir. We were joined by John, Pauline, Ruth, Alan, Chas and Chris, [for the day]. After Lunch, some sun worshipped and some walked 5miles around the reservoir, it was a lovely scenic walk and we all felt very healthy! Later that evening we had the traditional barbeque, and we were also joined by Jennifer and her Auntie Vi. Sadly Chas and Chris had to leave us, and after more wine with coffee, the bed and breakfast gang winded their way to their accommodation! Sunday was fine but dull. 9.30 service at All Saints Leek, and we were made very welcome. The rest of the day was whatever you wanted to do, which included going on the Rudyard Lake Narrow Gauge railway or relaxing around the reservoir. Morse particularly enjoyed the train and even sat properly on the seat hoping for a lolly from the conductor! Here, I should explain that Morse is a 7 year old German Shepherd, Collie Cross! Later that evening we all met up for a great meal at "The Lazy Trout", which was a couple of miles away from the site. They had only re opened on the Thursday and they did us all proud! After coffee in the awning the bed and breakfast gang left to catch up on their beauty sleep, as did we all… Monday morning came all too soon, back to reality, helped by the rain! We hope to plan another weekend for next year, so why not come and join us?
