The refurbishment work in the parish hall and the church has now been completed. We now have some excellent facilities for use by the community, including a brand new kitchen and improved access for wheelchairs. The hall can be divided into 2 areas and is fully carpeted. On Saturday 2nd September the Lord Mayor of
Coventry in company with the Lady Mayoress performed the official re-opening
after first being welcomed into the church by the Rector, Fr Paul Such.
Fr Paul had also earlier celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass thanking God for the skills of the Architect, Mark Evans and the builders from WBM restoration. The Archdeacon of Coventry, Mark Bryant blessed the hall. Fr Paul said that unlike many major projects the work at St John's had been completed on budget and on time.
The Choir and Servers also have a much improved vestry with its own external access so that entry to church can be achieved when the hall is in use. The church has improved wheelchair access now that the floor has been levelled out using stone ramps which blend in well with the rest of the floor. Level access can now be achieved throughout the church and into the hall. St John's also has a new Digital Organ manufactured by Makin Organs. The instrument is a Westmorland Custom 3 Manual.
